The challenge: brokerage that never arrived
Moneyplus has used Investwell to run its mutual fund business since 2015. Then its brokerage commission dropped suddenly, with no clear reason. The firm could see that less brokerage was coming in, but not which transactions were missing it or why. That made recovery hard, and it hurt the firm in four ways:
-
Unexpected brokerage losses
A sudden, unexplained drop in the brokerage commission the firm expected to earn.
-
No visibility on transactions
It was hard to tell which transactions had caused the loss, which made recovery complex.
-
Compliance complexity
Pinpointing the exact reason for the missing brokerage was difficult, and records were hard to keep accurate.
-
Financial impact
Missing brokerage disrupts cash flow. Left unresolved, it affects revenue projections and the firm’s ability to scale.
How Moneyplus used Investwell Mint to recover ₹5 lakh
The recovery took five steps.
-
1
Generate the Lost Brokerage report
In the Lost Brokerage menu in Investwell Mint, the team selected a month and requested the report. Investwell Mint then generates an Excel file of every transaction from that month on which brokerage wasn’t credited.
-
2
Download the report
Investwell Mint performs all compliance checks and gives a complete list of transactions, across multiple transaction types, where brokerage hasn’t been credited. The list is structured, so it’s easy to read and act on, and no earnings are missed.
-
3
Pinpoint the cause with the EUIN Remediation report
Moneyplus checked the affected transactions against the EUIN Remediation report in Investwell Mint’s Compliance Report. It lists every transaction where the EUIN is missing or invalid, with the transaction date, scheme, folio, ARN and error remarks. That confirmed the cause: an EUIN mismatch. When a cause isn’t clear, the Lost Brokerage report can also be shared with the AMC for clarification.
-
4
Calculate the lost brokerage
Working from the transactions listed in the Lost Brokerage report, the team calculated the brokerage it was owed.
-
5
Correct the EUIN and claim from the AMC
Moneyplus exported the affected transactions from Investwell Mint and sent them to the AMC with the correct EUIN and supporting proof, to have the mismatch corrected and claim the brokerage. ₹5 lakh was recovered. Once the AMC updates the EUIN, the corrected transactions clear from the EUIN Remediation report when it is refreshed.
What happens after a claim is submitted
- Claim submission
- AMC review
- Verification
- Approval
- Recovery credited
Recovery time depends on the documents submitted. When all the necessary documents are provided, the process typically completes within a month. If further verification is needed, it can take longer, depending on the nature of the compliance issue, the regulatory framework involved or any legal procedures required.
Preventing it next time: the Compliance Report
Moneyplus also took steps to prevent future losses. The Compliance Report in Investwell Mint runs six compliance checks and lists the clients and folios that need fixing:
- EUIN remediation
- Aadhaar not linked to PAN
- Folios without a nominee
- IIN/UCC communication mismatch
- PAN missing
- KYC missing
Fixing these early prevents transaction failures and ensures smooth operations. Read the step-by-step guide: how to fix EUIN, KYC and other compliance issues.
The Results
This figure was reported by Moneyplus.
- Brokerage recovered
- ₹5 lakh in lost earnings
- Root cause
- EUIN mismatch traced with the Lost Brokerage and EUIN Remediation reports
Why it worked: the Lost Brokerage report turned an unexplained drop in brokerage into a list of specific transactions. With the cause identified, Moneyplus could correct the EUIN, claim what it was owed and take steps to prevent future losses.
“I was facing losses due to uncredited commissions, but with Investwell’s Lost Brokerage feature, I identified an EUIN mismatch and successfully recovered ₹5 lakh in lost earnings.”
